A flow of basalt on the edge of the Toowoomba escarpment.

Harlaxton basalt is extraordinarily high strength, very dense, crystal-shaped, quality basalt. It’s used to make very safe roads.

We proudly supply local infrastructure, civil & building - creating places for Toowoomba people to live, work, learn & connect.

Basalt is an igneous rock, formed by the cooling and solidification, near the earth’s surface, of volcanic lava that is rich in magnesium & iron & has a low silica content. Its molten march was fast and vast, and it spread its lava flow many kilometres before cooling quickly. …except at Harlaxton, which is like a topographical cup – a perfect hollow into which the lava flowed. Then it sat in the cup and cooled … very slowly. This slow cooling makes the composition of the rock extraordinarily strong.

At Harlaxton Quarry we crush and screen boulders into aggregates.

Aggregates are stones of varied sizes, that are crushed and screened to the correct profile in our equipment onsite.

Aggregates from Harlaxton are then transported by truck drivers who work for our customers, to the building and development sites to which they’re bound.
